Belvedere Again

Today we also went to the Belvedere with our art class.
The most fun this time were the Messerschmidt heads.  There is an round room in the Belvedere with the heads in a circle facing out and it is so much fun to go around and try out the faces.
The guy may have been crazy, or just interested in facial musculature, or had a best friend who was a doctor and liked to do strange magnetic cures on people.  Either way, I dare you to not try to make the faces as you look at them in person.

Franz Xaver Messerschmidt, An Intentional Wag, 1771-1783, alabaster. Upper Belvedere Collection, Vienna

St. Stephansdom in the background.

This nunnery built tall, thick walls separating itself from the frolicking madness that went on at the Belvedere.

Whoops- not supposed to take photos in the Bel.  I think this is Maria Theresia, but not 100 percent sure.
