Piran Two

Portoroz--a nearby city.  Across the bay there is Croatia.  Maya loved the oval-themed sidewalks.

A sign we saw on the walk from Portoroz to Piran

Portoroz--Sunshine on face!

1 Euro Gelato again!  And Maya's new scarf.

Tartini Statue

Maya soaking up sun in Tartini Square.  Much of this trip was walking for a bit and then sitting in the sun for 20 minutes and then walking some more.....and gelato.

The legend for this house on Tartini Square is that a rich Venetian merchant was having a long affair with a local lady and the town's people were making fun of her.  So, he built this fancy house for her right on the then harbour (they filled it in to make the square) and the inscription between the windows reads "Let them talk" in Latin.

City Wall--this wall is Medieval but it was walled in Roman times I think.

Maya looks at Grado, Italy and Croatia, and Trieste, Italy through the binoculars on the wall.

St. George's Church in the distance.

Maya playing around during sunset.
